Hole in the ears

Hole in the ears

Remember that at Posh, children always have the opportunity to have two piercers at the same time! So they don’t end up with just one hole 😁

Many parents choose to go to a professional piercing studio to get their children’s ears pierced (we have a 4-year limit on earlobes). In this post, we want to inform you about why you shouldn’t use an ear gun/piercing gun, and instead pierce yourself at an approved piercing studio!

Ear guns are impossible to sterilize. When the jewelry is fired into the ear, small drops of blood are deposited on the gun, and if these end up between the various parts of the gun, they cannot be removed. Piercing needles, on the other hand, are disposable, come in a sterilized package and are discarded after use.

Punching a hole may seem simple enough, but it is a minority of those who do the job who have sufficient knowledge of infection, sterilization, and treatment of any complications and if they have taken courses it is often only 2-3 hours. A serious piercer has knowledge (APP courses, wound treatment courses, etc.) about how things should be cleaned, where and how a piece of jewelry should be set, has its own premises and its own cleaning equipment that is specially adapted to infection control and several years of training. The premises must be approved by the district administration, where one of the criteria is to have a separate room (where you make holes).

When a hole is shot, the tissue in the ear is pushed aside, including the new variants of the gun. This causes the nearby skin to be destroyed to a much greater extent, increasing the chance of unsightly scar tissue. Some claim that the jewelry should be as sharp as a needle, if this were true, it would be deadly for children and run around with if the lock should fall off. A gun gives longer healing time, and a lot of scar tissue makes the hole grow crooked. A piercing needle is much sharper than the blunt jewelry shot through the ear.

The placement and angle of holes is easier to control when using a needle, as the gun makes it difficult to calculate the angle of the hole and thus what gives the best placement. Traditional gun jewelry is often only 6 mm long and thicker than what is recommended to start with. This means that the jewelry is too close to the ear and blood circulation is impaired. When it’s so cramped, it’s harder to clean.

Proper piercing jewelry has a 0% chance of allergic reactions. Gun jewelry is often made of other metals and you risk irritation and allergies.

That’s why we strongly advise against the use of ear guns/piercing guns for piercing.
